POLICE LAUNCH HUNT FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT WITNESS
British Transport Police detectives, investigating an allegation of serious sexual assault against a 24-year-old woman at Warrington Central Station, have released the image of a man they believe to be a crucial witness.
The incident happened at around 6am on Saturday, 17 July.
BTP, has launched a full investigation which has already identified a potentially vital witness.
Detective Inspector Andrea Rainey of BTP stated : “I want to stress that this man has absolutely no connection with the incident other than as a witness. We believe he was at the station at the same time as the group and may well have witnessed some of the events leading up to – and after – the assault.”
Anyone who recognises this man, or has further information about the incident, is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111. In all calls please quote incident 93 of 17/4/10.
DI Rainey added: “Thankfully incidents of this nature are rare on the rail network and passengers and staff can rest assured that BTP will continue to do everything in its power to ensure the railway is as safe as possible.”
